Emotional Intelligence for Addiction Families: Lunch & Learn
October 11 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm AEST
Emotional Intelligence for Addiction Families
Are you looking to develop skills in managing your own emotional intelligence when triggered, frustrated or angered by family members (which is all of us) or wish to have a deeper understanding of addiction, depression, anxiety, PTSD? Emotional Intelligence for Addiction Families is your introduction to a deeper understanding of what’s happening to you. Therapists Georgia Phillips and Kym Haynes understand that there is nothing wrong with you, however, something did happen to you, so they take the road less travelled by other professionals.
At this week’s Lunch & Learn, Emotional Intelligence for Addiction Families, we are joined by therapists Georgia Phillips and Kym Haynes from The Addictive World. Georgia & Kym will bring their individual experiences with families with addiction, and over 25 years of professional therapist experience, demonstrating their strong desire to move families away from disconnection and towards connection without medication by using the skills of Emotional Intelligence. The session also includes a Q&A if you are interested in some direct responses.
What you will learn:
- Some take away skills in managing your own emotional intelligence
- A deeper understanding of addiction, depression, anxiety and PTSD
What to bring:
- ipad/laptop/pen/paper for notes
About the presenters:
Georgia Phillips and Kym Haynes both grew up in addiction families and know the pain of a child living in that environment. Georgia joined the Qld Police service at the age of 40 and observed the destruction of many families through addiction. They have developed a language and resources for the struggling families who are not educated in Addiction. Georgia and Kym have toured Queensland on the back of a Magazine article called “Not my Family Never my Child” and helped families in the remote areas of Queensland. They have recently spoken at numerous local and international conferences including the 2018 Australian Counselling Association (ACA) conference and International Women’s day (IWD) 2019 with Hetty Johnstone, CEO of Brave-Hearts.
