Canvas Open Playing Rules
These are the official playing rules of the Canvas Open, as sanctioned by the International Committee of Competition Table Tennis for Amatures in Coworking Spaces (ICCTTACS).
All games will be played at the Canvas Coworking Space, using the table, paddles and balls provided.
The ball must rest on an open hand palm. Then it must be tossed up at least 6 inches and struck so the ball first
bounced on the servers side and then the opponent’s side.
After the serve, the opponent must then return the serve by directly hitting the ball over the net and into the
Play continues with each player hitting the ball directly back over the net until a point is scored.
If the ball hits the net and goes ‘in’ – its play on.
Each player serves two points in a row and then the serve is switched.
If a score of 10-10 is reached in any game, then each server serves only one point, and then the serve is switched.
After each game, the players swap ends.
In the final game (ie 3rd game), the players swap ends again after either player reaches 5 points.
The game is won by the first player who reaches 11 points, unless both players are on 10 points, in which case the
winner will be the first player to be 2 points in front (Ie 10-12, or 15-13).
The match will consist of 3 games. The Winner is the player who wins two games.
All rounds needs to be played during the “round week”.
Playing times need to be negotiated between the players, except for the semi final and final, which will be played
on the Finals night.
The court must be booked for competition matches with the playing times listed on the whiteboard.
If a suitable playing time can’t be negotiated, the player with the least flexible schedule is deemed the looser.
Where both players are equally unflexible, it will be decided by a coin toss.
Please update the draw at the end of each game, and remember to check the draw for your next round/opponent
Whilst this is a deadly serious competition, please remember to have fun and play in the spirit of the Coworking
